The Matinee emailed me last week and this email was a teaser for sure they had came back home from a tour in Cold Lake Alberta I wished I had been there because this tour was wild. The Matinee is down to earth supporting lots of causes and their music is hitting the charts on College radio. Tune in and find out more
The Matinée has emerged as one of the west coast’s premier independent bands. Blending a passion for fine ale and finely crafted tunes, The Matinée offer a unique spin on a roots-rock sound that is quickly attracting both national and international audiences. Writing songs that paint pictures of empty bottles and broken hearts, broken bottles and empty hearts, their collection of songs has effortlessly come to life.
The Matinée are making some honest footprints across Canada. Their self-titled 2007 release is a clean and crisp collection of songs to drink, dance and live with.” Darla Starvey, 92.7 CFFF FM
Following their first release in July 2007, The Matinée embarked on two highly successful cross-Canada tours. With songs ‘Mama’ and ‘San Diego’ charting nationwide on Canadian College Radio, the band’s live show struck a chord with audiences across the country. Combined with their recent addition to the B.C. Schizophrenia Reachout Program, The Matinée has performed for more than 25,000 high school/college students this year in B.C. alone.
With two more Canadian tours in the works and a follow up album scheduled for Fall, 2008 looks to be a highly anticipated sequel for The Matinée. As they continue with their hard-nosed, do it yourself, blue collar work ethic, there is little doubt that this show is worth the price of admission. Hold on to your seats…it’s showtime for The Matinée!
