HMTV DJ Tina Interviews Susan Masino

I had a fantastic opportunity to interview Susan Masino Author of the Book Let There Be Rock. A very indepth interview about Susans Career as a Rock Journalist and Radio Personality. We talked about Let There Be Rock just enough to tease our audience, I'm looking forward to recieving this book in the mail and Don Coleman Canada's Premiere AC/DC Vocalist recommends Let There Be Rock an excellent read. We are looking forward to Susan Masino returning to our eZine to cover her teaching The History of Rock and Roll for the UW Madison Continuing Education Program.

A Little About Susan Masino

During the eighties, Susan worked in New York City at SoundWorks Recording Studios with regular clients John Denver, Joe Cocker and Diana Ross, and Richard Gersh Associates, a publicity firm. From 1991-96 she published Rock Central, a monthly rock magazine distributed throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. In October of 1997, she helped launch the 94.1 JJO Local Stage, a weekly local music radio hour which she hosted from 1997 to 2004. She has also written the monthly music news column, WI Music News, since 1991.

Famous Wisconsin Musicians can be found at www.badgerbooks.com. It features 32 biographies including a foreword written by Les Paul.

My husband John and I, went to New York City in September 2003 to see the legendary Les Paul. Les and his band were incredible! Les performs two shows every Monday night at the Iridium Jazz Club on 51st and Broadway. After his late show, he always stays to meet fans and sign autographs. I would like to thank Les Paul and his manager, Joseph Horn, for being so gracious when we visited. Les wrote a wonderful foreword for my book, Famous Wisconsin Musicians, plus called into the Joey Reynolds show on WOR 710 am in New York City later that night during my on-air interview, ...at 3:30 am! They’re not kidding when they say New York is the city that never sleeps! See the "Wizard of Waukesha" every Monday night at the Iridium Jazz Club. Order tickets at www.iridiumjazzclub.

In October of 2006, I caught Les Paul's 10pm show at the Iridium. Now ninety-one, you couldn't tell that once he started playing. He was accompanied by some incredible musicians, and invited a few special guests to join him on stage. Cracking jokes in-between songs, Les has the spirit of a teenager. If you're in New York on a Monday night, don't pass up the chance to experience a legend.

Famous Wisconsin Musicians features 32 biographies of Wisconsin's most renowned artists, including Les Paul, Steve Miller, Liberace, Ben Sidran, Eric Benet, Carl Allen, Al Jarreau, Jeff Pilson of Dokken and Greg Graffin of Bad Religion. Plus, a collection of Wisconsin music trivia, referencing over 100 musicians. Special foreword written by the legendary Les Paul. Available now for $14.95, order a copy today at www.badgerbooks.com or www.famouswisconsin.com.

Susan Masino will be teaching The History of Rock and Roll, a six-week course for the UW-Madison Continuing Education Program this fall. She is available for public speeches or workshops pertaining to the history of Wisconsin music.
